Lake Poway hike

Lake Poway

A baker’s dozen of San Diego Eagles and friends trekked the Lake Poway Loop Trail Saturday morning.

Front row (l-r) Walid Soussou ’95, Lori Mahler P’11, Thomas Pelkey, Chloe Walker MSW’20, Bill McDonald ’68, and Paulette Cazares ‘98. Back row (l-r): Joe Mahler ’74 P’11, Claire Hendricks, Peter Schmitz ’23, Natalia Mendez ‘04, Katy Morrison MA’24, and Loren Diloreto MS’24. Lissa Tsu ’00 took the photo.

The group included several recent graduates and recent arrivals in San Diego.

The trail is a 2.8-mile circle around Lake Poway. It is rated “easy” by AllTrails, with 456 feet of elevation gain. For what it’s worth, my steps total on the hike was above 10,000 (quite a few of them slow steps).

Views of the surrounding hills and, of course, the lake (at top) were a feature.

More hikes to come. Stay tuned!
